The Protection Manager (PM) oversees DRC Somalia’s protection programs. Working with a team of technical experts (e.g., GBV, Child Protection), the PM ensures field staff receive training, guidelines, and tools to implement high-quality protection activities. They focus on harmonizing practices, sharing lessons learned, and aligning with global standards.
The PM collaborates closely with Area Managers to ensure consistent and effective protection efforts across the country. They are also tasked with expanding DRC’s protection portfolio, strengthening its role as a key protection actor in Somalia, and integrating protection into all programs.
DRC’s Somalia portfolio includes general protection, child protection, gender-based violence prevention, community-based protection, emergency response, and migration support, such as assisting voluntary returnees.
The PM leads the development of protection strategies, represents DRC in external forums (e.g., working groups, donor meetings), and contributes to advocacy efforts on protection issues. Additionally, the PM supports integrated programming in challenging locations and partnerships with Somali local organizations, working closely with the Technical Staff and Head of Programme.
